I knew when Alex and I started this house that the interiors would be inspired by the surroundings. This house sits about a block from the beach and is surrounded by thick, scrubby trees and bushes. We spend a lot of time outside and we all love the soft natural colors of the beach, water, weathered wood and sky. I really wanted it to be a space that would serve equally well to entertain guests for a nice evening AND to hang out in wearing bathing suits, frying up fish that we just caught off the beach.
Our Seagrove Beach House kitchen was just published in Coastal Living (October issue) and to say I am excited is really an understatement. We actually finished the kitchen a while back but I was asked to embargo my photos until the magazine came out. So , finally (!!!) here is the reveal of the whole space. I found this amazing tile from Tile Bar. I fell in love immediately and knew it was the starting point for the whole space. Isn't it amazing? It has the look of concrete tile but it's all marble mosaic. We painted the cabinetry on the back wall a warm white that seems to reflect the surrounding colors really beautifully. In these photos it seems to be picking up the blues from the tile and the warm greens just outside the window. The barstools are from Palecek. They add a great organic feeling to whole space and keep it feeling relaxed. The beautiful vintage rug is from Etsy. I'm always searching for one of a kind finds, especially unique rugs. You pretty much have to grab them when you see them and this one turned out perfectly. It has the warmth of a sunset and picks up on the red knobs from the Wolf range. The lights are from Horchow. I found the brushed gold hardware from Lew's Hardware. I think it gives the whole space a warm, sunny feeling. If you want to see the Coastal Living feature, you can see it here.

This is truly lovely! I think all of your choices were spot on and the picture that shoots into the dining room allows a glimpse of how well it flows throughout. Any chance you'd volunteer the paint colours- both off white and blue? I'd also love to know about the counter tops- very pretty. Congratulations!

Could you tell me what type of wood the island is made from and what type of stain/finish it has? I have been trying to figure out how to achieve that exact look! Thank you so much

Hi! I LOVE the backsplash! It's perfect. Can you tell me the name of this specific tile?

Old Seagrove Homes was created out of a chance meeting one summer night on a roof deck overlooking the beach in 2007. While Alex was already running a construction company, Cynthia had studied fine arts and design. Three children and many projects later, the couple knew that what had started out as a construction company, was quickly growing into something much more. Today, Alex and Cynthia Rice work together as a design team, building inspiring homes from conception to construction and custom finishes. Thanks for following along with us!
