Alex and I are comfortable keeping very busy schedules. This week alone, we started the foundation work on TWO new houses- yay! We got to meet with our wonderful out of town clients on another project and work out all of the interior finishes and lighting choices. I had a major drapery install, did two interviews, started a new accounting system and had three sick children. And it's only Wednesday. But honestly, having a beautiful office to work in can totally change your state of mind no matter how crazy the week is.

When I started planning this space, I knew I wanted it to be comfortably elegant- polished, yet with an eclectic style. The centerpiece is this gorgeous rattan chair by Gabby. I am completely in love with its cool, graceful attitude. The Kim Salmela, turquoise, velvet pillow is the perfect accent. I chose airy linen drapes and placed a cypress bench, custom designed by Alex, beneath the window.

I designed the white shelving with contrasting cypress on the back and put file cabinets on the desk for easy storage. I then filled the shelves with books, pieces of coral and all kinds of fun memories. You can see my little collection of sea urchins and butterflies found by Alex and our children. That awesome Japanese print of a Samarai once hung in my karate grandmaster's office and my parents brought me the smaller framed print after a trip to Thailand.

Old Seagrove Homes was created out of a chance meeting one summer night on a roof deck overlooking the beach in 2007. While Alex was already running a construction company, Cynthia had studied fine arts and design. Three children and many projects later, the couple knew that what had started out as a construction company, was quickly growing into something much more. Today, Alex and Cynthia Rice work together as a design team, building inspiring homes from conception to construction and custom finishes. Thanks for following along with us!
