The House that started it all

This is the house that started it all.
From a sketch on a dinner napkin, Alex and I began to design the floor plan and unique exterior touches for this beach house. We were fortunate to work with Thurber Architecture to help us bring our vision to life. It was in this house that Alex and I carefully chose our color palette and custom finishes that we have now become know for. We introduced our gorgeous tabby shell stucco fireplace and pecky cypress mantle, hand selected straight from the mill. In fact, Alex carefully chose all of the cypress for the custom built ins and kitchen cabinets that were built on site. We take great pride in our attention to detail and there was no shortage of it in this home. From the driftwood orb chandelier pictured below, to the tile selection and design, to the custom blended floor stain, we put our hearts into every aspect. Take a look at the feature article on our project in the Cottage Journal. And to see all of the photos from this house visit our Portfolio page.

A Seagrove Kitchen Mention

We were thrilled to see our beautiful kitchen on the Tracery Interiors Blog. This was a wonderful project, and you may not realize that this was actually our home for many years before we renovated it. Two of our children were born here, so it holds a very special place in our hearts. Just look at how beautifully it turned out! It was a fantastic collaboration of talent. Hallie of H Young Interiors chose the tile, grout color, sleek yet traditional cabinet hardware and jointly designed the kitchen layout with Tara Hutchens. Tracery Interiors chose the wirebrushed oak flooring, plumbing fixtures and provided the elegant styling. Alex and I had the pleasure of choosing the mercury glass pendants and paint colors. We custom built the cabinets on site and added our signature cypress accents. Alex hand selected each cypress board for it's unique color so that no stain was necessary and so that we could preserve the natural beauty of the reclaimed wood. And of course, we did the construction. To see the entire post, look here. To see the photos from the complete home renovation see Live Oak Street here.

    Cynthia Rice
Old Seagrove Homes was created out of a chance meeting one summer night on a roof deck overlooking the beach in 2007. While Alex was already running a construction company, Cynthia had studied fine arts and design. Three children and many projects later, the couple knew that what had started out as a construction company, was quickly growing into something much more. Today, Alex and Cynthia Rice work together as a design team, building inspiring homes from conception to construction and custom finishes. Thanks for following along with us!
