1- We are considering where to move next (if you didn't know, we listed our house recently) We could choose a home that's already in beautiful condition and ready to move into but is on a smallish lot OR we could choose a home that has great bones, sits on a huge lushly landscaped lot but needs A LOT of work - much which would need to be done while we are living in it. I know, why would we choose to torture ourselves with living in a construction zone for the millionth time in our lives? Did you know that when I brought my third baby home from the hospital, we actually had scaffolding around the whole house, were ripping up floors AND the kitchen? We had moved our bedroom in to the dining room so we could tear up the flooring and renovate.... but I digress....  that's another story for another time.
Back to the question at hand- What would you do??? Beautifully new renovated and ready to go OR great bones with tons of potential but lots of work? What do you think?
oh, and there's also the small matter that we are selling our house furnished, so we will be completely furnishing the new home (!!!) So many fun things to think about. The next months ahead are definitely looking interesting to say the least.
2- This seems to be a fitting time to share my planner.  I couldn't live without it. I also couldn't live without my sticky notes you can see poking out of the pages- ha! You can see more about it here- Day Designer

3- Another super busy week has passed- shocker, I know. But, seriously, we all know how it feels trying to squeeze everything into a day. Even so, I still prefer to cook and eat dinner at home with the family. I just feel that this is a precious time to have with the kids where we can all be together and talk about what's going on with everyone. So, what to cook tonight?  Sheet pan dinners are one of the easiest dinners that I love to cook- no long recipe needed. Here's what to do- take a cookie sheet, line with foil for easy clean up, add your salmon and layer broccoli rabe and thin sliced lemons all around. Drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper and bake at 400 for about 25 minutes. Add kalamata olives and feta cheese and serve!
Here's my prep photo. I don't have a finished one because everyone was too hungry and started eating it right off the pan- so there's your proof it's delicious too!

4- We FINALLY got our cushion and pillows for the carriage house dining nook- And just in time to sell the house. Isn't that how it goes?? Well, at least the new owners will get to enjoy it.

5- Spring is officially here. It's pretty hard to miss with all of the rain we've been getting day after day. Yesterday, I ran out to the J Crew factory store to grab a few things for the kids and I found this adorable rain jacket. It's lightweight for warmer weather and pretty perfect all around. You can order it online here- Kid's Clear Rain Jacket

That's a tough question. With the quality of the renovation you're able to achieve, I'd lean towards doing another project with greater space. It's also more fulfilling to live in a space you designed and executed. However, you mentioned renovating while you're living in the home and that's something I just refuse to do again. Renovations are stressful enough without living in the space and can be hard on relationships.

It has great bones! Herringbone floors for goodness sake. But, yes, living in a house during renovation is definitely not fun, although, that said, it is probably just a little bit easier for us than most since we are the builders. Still a tough decision none the less.

Hi Cinthia : I was dealing with the same dilemma exactly 3 years ago . We decided to go for the perfect lot by the water and amazing bones ! We have been renovating since then by sections and taking breaks here and there ! I have to say we are loving it including my four kids! I know that sometimes it could be stressful but it depends how you look it. We decided to see the beauty of
It . It feels like we are always on the new adventure and feels like we have moved to a new house when we finish that particular section, even though is the same one . Our lot is premium and was very hard to find in the area where we live so for us that was it ! We felt like renovating has a magic ( ongoing satisfaction ) that a new built wouldn’t give us ! Those are my two cents !
I am looking forward to join you in your new adventure!!
Sending our love 💕

Yes! You are so right. It is an adventure and I love how you say a renovation has a magic to it. There's nothing better than creating exactly what you envision and watching it come to life!

Old Seagrove Homes was created out of a chance meeting one summer night on a roof deck overlooking the beach in 2007. While Alex was already running a construction company, Cynthia had studied fine arts and design. Three children and many projects later, the couple knew that what had started out as a construction company, was quickly growing into something much more. Today, Alex and Cynthia Rice work together as a design team, building inspiring homes from conception to construction and custom finishes. Thanks for following along with us!
