Burnt Pine Cove Kitchen

When you get to design your own home, you're able to choose all of the little details that make a space truly personal. Alex and I had so much fun with this project!  The anchor of our home is the kitchen and we wanted it to be filled with tons of natural light. We filled it with windows, glass french doors and two huge infinity doors in the dining and living rooms that open to the swimming pool and outdoor living area. We spend ALL of our time here, with the doors wide open on beautiful days. Alex and I designed the island to look like a piece of furniture. We put shelves on the end for our collection of platters and cookbooks and hand carved a gorgeous design into the heavy pieces of wood that frame the sides. The open glass cabinets are the perfect spot for storage and make the whole space feel so warm and welcoming. We used our trademark cypress cabinetry and brought in a modern element by tiling the entire back wall in a carrera mosaic. The dark cabinetry is the perfect backdrop for our larger pieces of white coral, heirloom silver and white dishes. I think the gold pendants add the perfect bit of polish and the burnished gold hardware ties it all together.

Was the rug a recent purchase? I'd love to know if it's still available!

I bought it about a year ago on One Kings Lane, but they may still have it or one similar. Good luck!

Old Seagrove Homes was created out of a chance meeting one summer night on a roof deck overlooking the beach in 2007. While Alex was already running a construction company, Cynthia had studied fine arts and design. Three children and many projects later, the couple knew that what had started out as a construction company, was quickly growing into something much more. Today, Alex and Cynthia Rice work together as a design team, building inspiring homes from conception to construction and custom finishes. Thanks for following along with us!
